Limerick

Poem 3, August 10, 2023

Limericks are supposed to be funny and absurd. They can also be bawdy tales that are are not fit to print.

A limerick is a five-line poem that rhymes. It’s an AABBA pattern, meaning the first, second, and fifth lines rhyme and the third and fourth lines rhyme. Yet, I find it hard to rhyme unless Keck and I are mimicking the Sicilian from Princess Bride. I inevitably end up saying, “No more rhyming!” I was inspired by a garden sign for tonights limerick.

The tardy woman begged pardon,
Time didn’t come in a carton.
She looked at her wrist,
Gave her watch a good twist.
Thyme was made in a garden.
